Shturcite
|
Shturcite (the Crickets) are the-most successful Bulgarian rock group, whose songs have been listened from more than one generation. The group was found in 1966 in Sofia city and the stages on which its members first made their performances were at the student balls in VITIZ (Higher Institute of Theatre Art), Academy of Arts, and Sofia University. At the end of 1966 the name `The Crickets` was chosen after a competition put through the air of the National Radio. Only a year had passed since the Crickets were created when they had their first official recognition – winning the first award at the festival of the Bulgarian entertaining song – The Golden Orpheus. There the song of Boris Karadimchev Byala Tishina (White Silence) was performed by him and Georgi Minchev. Still that same year this song was also at first place at the competition of BNT Melody of the Year. In 1968 the Crickets released their debut plate containing only 4 songs. The beginning of the 70ties marked the end of this first period of the group. Then followed years of many changes and constant seeking until in 1976 the Crickets found out the members, who would never part in the next 20 years, producing their best compositions: Kiril Marichkov, Petur Gyuzelev, Georgi Markov, Valdi Totev. In 1980 was released the album XX vek (XXth century), making the beginning of a series of `super successful` projects. The song XXth century was at the head of all charts. During these years the group made over 800 concerts before more than two million people, without mentioning the tours in Cuba, France, and all the countries in Eastern Europe.
