Epizod (Episode) is one of the few groups in Bulgaria to keep so long its presence on the Bulgarian rock stage. Moreover, all the years they managed to keep their style as well as their fans.
The group was founded in 1983, but as late as 1989 they become really popular, when they participate in a series of festivals and concerts with their constant attributes – coffins, gallows and executioners. The music critiques defined their style as ` Mediaeval cemetery metal`. The first album was called `Molete se`(Pray People) and was produced in 1992 by Unison-RTM. All the texts were of the French classic poet Francois Villon.
A year later having produced their second album the group has fallen apart for two years. The singer Dimitar Argirov and his family went to Milan (Italy), and the pianist Rosen Doichinov to Holland.
The texts in this album, called `Martvets sred Martavtsi` (Dead man among dead people) were not only of Francois Villon but also of another French poet Charles Baudelaire.
In 1995 Epizod was formed again. This same year recorded the first piece of the album `Doshlo e Vreme`(Time Have Come) was recorded. It was called `Jivotat e usilie za men`(Life is hard for me). This third album was finished so late as 2000, but it was never recorded.
Meanwhile in 1999 appeared the album `Respect`. It was quite different one. Most of the texts in it were written by the musicians themselves, in particular by Dragomir Draganov and Simeon Hristov.
In 2000 Epizod stopped concerting and backed up by FSB studio created the album `Balgarskiat Bog` (Bulgarian God). The texts in it were taken from the works of the well-known Bulgarian poets Hristo Botev and Ivan Vazov. One of the songs `Haiduti` is put in the 2001 New Year Eve Programme on BNT (Bulgarian National Television).
Moreover, a film about the group long 30min was made. It was called `Ogan za dnes`(Fire for Today) and was broadcast on the 3rd of March (a Bulgarian national holiday).
Orfey Music started distributing `Balgarskiat Bog` in June 2002. It appeared to be the best-selling rock-album for the year 2002. The folk singers, father Andon, Daniela Velichkova, and the 12-year-old girl Kristina Yaneva, and the two choirs, Ioan Kukuzel choir and a children choir helped for the success of the album.
At the present moment Epizod are working over an album with Bulgarian folk songs with rock arrangement. A project called `Balgarskiat Bog 2`is also being thought of. It is inspired by the times of khan Kubrat Bulgaria.
